Have you heard of 'Karva Chauth'. A festival in India. It's meant for both the husband and the wife.

The wife prays for her husbands long life, health and prosperity in that festival. She fasts for the whole day. Her husband offers gifts later. Also she is being fed by the husband. Isn't that romantic?

Or do you really need an attestation by the west to celebrate a special day?

:-)

the concept of celebrating days have been borrowed and copied from the west. people in the developed world are so busy in attending their day-to-day affairs that they end up spending almost all of their time in doing hard-core jobs. so they devised the strategy to come out of the pressure and make people realise that they do exist.

while , it seems a lucrative idea to celebrate the days but is it celebrated in its true spirit? in India, we have a composite culture where family ties and values are being preferred than staying aloof. there is no need to celebrate the days even. if every day, we realise what our responsibilities towards others are and we thank all those who have contributed in our life, days would seem less.
but due to media -hype and globalisation, it has become imperative to adopt some cross-culture habits like the present one. there is no harm to celebrate even husband's day unlike other day. but it should be meaningful and may be who knows in the garb of celebrating we end up clearing the old and weary thoughts and clubbing the relationship afresh. after all a marriage is a two way process and rests on the mutual trust and faith. if women be congratulated, why can't man be?

i see no harm in celebrating husband's day as long as it is celebrated in true colours and spirit. one thing is sure that it's a nice way to make everyone realise that threre is someone waiting for you who has shared a space someowhere in your life at acrucial point and deserves your love and gratitude.
