I think even if it is small it is still a cauldron. To be a true cauldron it must be made of cast iron, have 3 legs and be broader at the top than the bottom

It is a small pot... especially used by witches! It may also be used to carry some flaming oil to light dark halls and corridors. If you will read the book "Harry Potter"by JK Rowling you will notice that the word cauldron is used so many times.
