I don't care if prayer is allowed in schools or not but this question should NOT be allowed in the basketball section of Yahoo! Answers.

Yes, prayer should be allowed in schools. The school system needs all the help it can get. There was time when schools did not have all of the mayhem it has today. When I was younger, prayer was allowed and schools were safer. You never heard the reports your here today. Shootings in schools, teachers having affairs w/ students, teen pregnancy and higher dropout rates. These situations are evident that God is not pleased with the removal of prayer and when something happens w/ our kids we pray all the way to school.

Private schools sure... but in public no... if we're all paying to fund the schools then I don't think it would be fair to have every student participating in prayer... Though I think like after school groups or whatever if they amibcably choose to do so should be allowed to hold group prayers etc because they're not state mandated groups or courses... students can choose to join those groups whereas they can't control the content of their classroom/ daily lessons.

I say yes you can pray, but keep it to yourself. If you want to have prayer in class, go to a private school. There is so many religions now and they all think they are right and try to convince everyone that they are right. Keep your beliefs to yourself. What is the root cause of most wars nowadays? Different religous beliefs. And also, I agree with the earlier answer: what does this have to do with basketball.

If we can't have prayer in the schools, then why do the Mormon students have a seminary building usually across from the high school they attend? They go to this during school hours. That is not fair to the rest of the students who are not Mormon.

All schools should have prayer but if the kids don't want to participate in it because of their religion or beliefs, they shouldn't have to.

Yes! There already is though. No one can stop me from praying to my Heavenly Father. I'm not forcing anyone to participate. If others of like faith want to join in they should be allowed to.
