For the first time in forever I am late for my period. I am almost a week late, and I have taken 2 EPT tests. Me and my fiance looked up a lot of the symptoms of pregnancy. We arn't quite ready for this and I don't believe in abortion because of religious reasons and because of what it does to your body. I am really scared and upset. Could it be the stress? Or could it be that both of our lives are going to be changed forever?

10. Tender, swollen breasts < yes
9. Fatigue 8. Implantation bleeding 7. Nausea or vomiting 6. Increased sensitivity to odors 5. Abdominal bloating 4. Frequent urination 3. A missed period 2. Your basal body temperature stays high < I feel warm but I don't have a fever
1. The proof: A positive home pregnancy test < took 2 but they both said no

I hope someone can help. I'm going to school full time and working and it's to much...

Thank you,
scared and not ready

Hi,
First thing, I am a mother of 3 little ones, so I pretty much know what I am talking about, but everyone's different. Based on your yesses, I don't think you are. You sound more pre-menstrual then pregnant! But just to clarify, the temperature wouldn't be like fever high, just a degree or two a the most. Some women don't get the vomitting, but I have yet to find someone who didn't feel at least a little lightheaded and nauseaous...for me that was always the first sign!!! My tests always said yes pretty early on, within a week of missed period, even though the makers say it can take longer.
Email me if you have any questions or you just feel overwhelmed.
If it matters, my husband and I will pray for you.

First of all take a deep breath and calm down. Freaking out is never the way to go. While your list of "symptoms" helps it doesn't really provide the information that really matters like are you on an oral contraceptive or other form of hormonal birth control, do you and your fiance use condoms. Since we don't know this information I can give you some general guide lines. If you're on the pill (or other contraceptive) these things can be normal, especially if you've just started it. Sometimes you can have really short periods and sometimes you can miss them for a month. It is recommended that if you miss more than one month you get a test. Home pregnancy tests really aren't that reliable. I have had two female friends have negative tests when they were pregnant. They can also give false positives. Being overstressed doesn't help your hormones keep at a steady level either which can effect the way your body works. What you NEED to do is go to a doctor or a clinic like Planned Parenthood and get a REAL pregnancy test. Then you need to plan out your options. Many people have made it through unexpected pregnancies and the resulting child(ren) it just takes work. If you're fiance and you are not ready for the child you need to decide what the options are. If you don't believe in abortion you can always give the child up for adoption. Many families would love you have a healty child becaue they cannot conceive one of their own. I know two families with adopted childeren and both families and childeren are perfectly well adapted. Take one step at a time and you'll get through it. If you turn out not to be pregnant you may want to think VERY SERIOUSLY about using multiple contraceptive methods so you can prevent any further stress. Also, if the doctor's test says you're not pregnant ask about other things that can be causing these symptoms or if they're just normal PMS.

Home pregnancy tests usually do not show anything until you are 2 weeks late. Also do it when you first get up in the morning. I am pregnant now and I had all the symptoms you have and my doctor told me breast tenderness (you can barely touch them yourself without it hurting) is when she knew she was pregnant. If you are feeling queasy but not throwing up you could still be pregnant. If you are really worried about it though go to the doctor and have them give you a blood test. Its the best thing and you will know for sure.

Good Luck
and don't be scared, everyone loves it when baby's come around and they are the best gift ever. Also there is so much help for pregnant women out there.
again good luck

I had a friend who was trying to get pregnant and took 5 home pregnancy test, yes 5 and they all came back not pregnant she went to the doctor and had her blood drawn turned out she was 3 months pregnant. sometimes they just dont work, best bet go to the doctor and get blood work, the stress of you worrying about this could be holding your period back...hope everything works out for the best

The only thing left to do is get a pregnancy test from the doctor. Also, you could always consider adoption.
