I can see no racial or ageist connotations in that sentence. Race was never mentioned and nor was age in a non pc or defamatory manner

You just said it. There is nothing agist in that statement. A grandmother is a grandmother and a senior citizens center is a senior citizens center.
Nor is there anything racist in the statement, because the term grandmother refers to a familial relationship, not to any particular race.

how is that offensive at all? grandmother is fine because well, presumably, she's a grandmother, and the center for senior citizens is fine because it's presumably a place where old people congregate so they don't feel so depressed about the fact that they're old and will die soon
