The Absolutely Worst Places to Live in America surveyed thousands of Americans to find the fifty dirtiest, smelliest, most miserable cesspools, armpits, and tourist traps that make up this great land of ours. The 'winners' of this awful distinction include the likes of:

Atlantic City, New Jersey—Come for the slots. Stay for the gang warfare and fourth-rate prostitutes.
Gary, Indiana—Like a sewer populated by 100,000 people.
Carson City, Nevada—Perfect for folks burned out on the high culture of Reno.
Fairbanks, Alaska—Take the most horrible place you’ve ever been, then subtract the sun.
Jacksonville, Florida—Possibly the foulest-smelling city in the Western hemisphere.
Camden, New Jersey—Once the proud home of America’s first mass murderer, it’s been all downhill since then.

For me it is Atlanta. Atlanta with all of its advances
has a mass transist system of a third world country. Public works activities drag on and go vastily over budget.

The highways are overly constricted. They also lack any forethought to ease traffic jams or any
road diaster. If you are stuck on a Highway in
Atlanta God Help You. For, it may be hours before
anyone else will.

Restaurant food is horrible. It lacks the taste and
variety of Texas, Florida, California, Boston, or
the King of All Great Food New York.

The sports fans here are subjective and not objective. In any other market Michael Vick would
have been traded or sent packing to NFL Europe.

Dirty politics is a true art. Yesterday's crook is now on talk radio.

There are good things to Atlanta. But for the most
part, people are rude and very persumptious. They want to to deny your right to speak your mind, but don't you dare tread on their traditions.
It is very ironic that one of the main focal points in the Civil Rights Movement is a domain that is out of touch, and against any type of a fresh approach.

New Orleans may be a fun place to visit because of its colorful history and culture, but it's not excactly the best place to live. There is a lot of urban decay, poverty, violent crime, and corruption. New Orleans has a long history of death from violence/murder and natural disasters, which may explain the many ghost stories associated with New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina didn't help the situation either.

I'd have to say it's a tie between Los Angeles and Washington D.C.

When I was growing up, my dad was active duty Air Force and we lived all over the country. The people in LA and DC are the rudest people I have ever had to deal with.

New York is the worst spot on earth, because it emptied itself of its original inhabitants, and became inundated with immigrants who are seeking the fruits of a high civilization, without abandoning their partially civilized backgrounds. Why? Because their is no one left to FORCE them to be civilized, as there always was before.
