Why was Borden so perplexed by Angiers' second Transported Man trick? Why didn't he just assume Angiers had another double? It's no more impressive to have a double appear in another part of the theater than it is across the stage, so why was Borden so obsessed with finding out the "secret" to the trick?

That was one of those movies that mixed reality with science fiction. Borden was perplexed because the second one he knew wasn't a double. He knew that Angiers had been looking for something more real, and that he found it. That it was actually cloning him was amazing, and that would be completely mind boggling.

Well Borden knew Angiers didn't have a twin, at least I am pretty sure he knew that. The transported man thing kind of pissed me off because it just made no sense. Like, oh wait, let's add some stupid sci-fi thing that makes no sense into an otherwise good movie. I hate when things that are extremely abstract happen in movies because the makers of the movie can make anything happen and trick you. Like when the movie turns out to be "just a dream" or "in someones head", meanwhile you were trying to figure it out. Anyway, I loved the twist about there being two Bordens, though. That to me made a lot of sense...

I don't think he knew it at 1st. It's more to the end then he realise something is wrong and follow him to the old theatre then see the clones. That's the best part, where all the "truths" are reveal! The Prestige is one of my Fav movie in 2006!

My take on it was that:
A. He (as in Freddie), was just plain flustered and hence the obession
and
B. He (Freddie and Fallon) were responsible for Angier's undoing with the first double, i.e. Root. I think Borden(s?) were just convinced that Angier wouldn't risk using a double AGAIN when he was doing such a high profile show (myseriously back from the U.S., suddenly has only 100 shows, very expensive), so they assumed it had to be something else.

Because it seemed so flawless that he was obsessed with Angiers and he couldn't be satisfied with being 2nd best to this man of all men.
