Allow the plant to flower, then collect the seeds when mature for planting or sharing. Just like any other flowering plant.

After flowering, it should produce seeds:

Greek oregano (Origanum vulgare hirtum): The true oregano for Mediterranean cooking, with excellent flavor and white flowers. Watch out for the impostor (called wild marjoram) with pink flowers and no flavor. Greek oregano grows well in pots, reaching 8 to 12 inches. Grows easily from seed in 7 to 21 days at 65° to 77° F

You are not supposed to ever let your herbs go to seed! The flavor changes drastically. If you are only concerned about oregano, I have it, and it is a horror story! I LOVE having it, but every year I get THOUSANDS of volunteers. I try to cut all the new growth and get it in the dehydrator, but, apparently I always miss some. Babies grow in my lilies and the cracks of my patio. With all that, I would NEVER get rid of it. I also have chives, and the same thing happens. With basil, though, it is an annual. That never goes to seed because it all goes into pesto.

If it's an herb garden you're wanting to start, just order the seeds to get it going and let nature take it's course after that. Leave the seed-bearing parts on a couple of plants every year and they will spread on their own.

Oregano is a perennial...it spreads by the roots..if it is in a pot...divide and repot...outdoors...no mulch and no heavy weeding..you could be pulling up 'babies'
