Why do they make horror movies?

I guess that some of the older ones are alright. But today, these suck. I can't think of a horror movie I have seen within the last 10 years that has been remotely good. I guess I just don't care for them anyway.

I agree, there are way too many grotesque ones now. But I think people like the adrenaline rush (these movies can really get emotion going where other movies don't do nearly as much), and so that is why they make them and why it sells so well. I like some scary movies, but not any which are too bad (I won't see any that are R or which seem like they'll be really bad because I know I'll freak out!)

I don't find blood and guts movies entertaining at all.
But a good thriller is always fun. I especially like the psychological thrillers. Like the Silence of The Lambs series. Something that can have some truth to it. I think fear and excitement can feel about the same,it just depends on the situation you are in at the time. Think about the roller coaster rides...you are excited about it because of the fear?

I guess some of us just like that sort of thing. Sometimes it can get kind of boring watching a chop-chop movie(theres no real suspense anymore)Like what they did when they remade the hills have eyes. The original was nowhere near that gory. But I do have to admit that I enjoyed watching the dog get even with them. I tend to look at these type of movies with a kind of artistic eye(make-up and special effects)other than that they are kind of a joke.

To each their own - I love a good horror movie. The "good" ones are few and far between these days. The Asians seem to be most savvy these days when it comes to making a decent horror flick in my opinion.
