When I worked at a movie theater years ago I used to watch all the movies nominated. But lately they seem to be getting quite snobbish on who they nominate for awards. I still can't get over the year that Ray won some many awards. I and a lot of my friends that saw the movie thought it was okay just not really worthy of any of the nominations it got. If I'm home and nothing else is on I will watch it. If something else is on that I would prefer to watch then I won't.

I rarely watch the Academy Awards because it's a long and deeply boring telecast!

I do hope Forrest Whittaker wins Best Actor for "The Last King of Scotland" - he's been a favorite actor and director of mine for years and he did an amazing character actor job playing Field Marshall Idi Amin (he even got the Northern Ugandan accent dead on - and I actually know people from Uganda so I know what a real Northern Ugandan accent sounds like!)

But I'll just cross my fingers, hope Whittaker wins and read about the Oscars in the NY Daily News the next morning!

I'm never interested in the Academy Awards, and I agree that most of the movies this year were... lacking. Or uninteresting. Or whatever.

I lost total faith in The Academy when Titanic won Best Picture.

I thought Titanic was a steaming dog turd. Terrible script. Awful direction. An utter waste of talent.

James Cameron's self-congratulatory behavior made all of that seem even worse.

I didn't see many of the movies, I don't care who gets what award, and I oh so don't care to sit and watch for hours on end as the celebrities arrive only to be asked, "who are you wearing" i'd think it was funny as hades if someone showed up in their birthday suit and when asked that idiot question, they replied, "me, i'm wearing me"

I like to watch the Academy Awards. I don't care who wears what, it's really just that there are talented actors, directors, producers, makeup artists, etc., etc.

The Grammy's, on the other hand, are a funch of barce! (yea, you read that right ! -bunch of farce...lol) There's no talent.

Just my opinion.

I wait until the next morning and hear on the morning news who the winners are. I get tired of the blah, blah, blah and the commercials, they go on forever. I used to watch award shows, but just got bored with them.

I don't really care about any awards shows - movies, tv, music, or any others. I like what I like, I don't like what I don't like, and whether or not it wins an award won't change my mind.
