You know what it is... he told a few weeks ago, more wars, more oil profits, common sense be damned.

He is using a suggestion from the Iraq Study Group's report (Top of page 50). http://www.usip.org/isg/iraq_study_group_report/report/1206/iraq_study_group_report.pdf
It is the one about supporting a temporary "surge" (their word) in Baghdad to help quell sectarian violence. In order to do this, Bush nominated, and Congress approved, General David Petraeus. He is the guy who wrote the U.S. Army manual on fighting insurgents. He is also the guy who succeeded in bringing a short lived peace to the city of Mosul after the initial invasion. It was short lived because he was transferred to another command.
The "surge" (again, the Iraq Study Group's word) will help the Iraqi police and Army forces sweep, clear, and hold Baghdad. At the same time, 3,000+ troops will be sent to the Anbar province to aid the local Sunni leaders in fighting al-Qaeda. The goal is to bring an end to the sectarian violence ripping Baghdad apart to the point that the democratically elected Iraqi government can not work. Without security there can be no Iraqi political solution.
I have a question for you, what is the Democrat's plan to try and bring peace to Iraq? I hope they have better plans than the two being discussed in the media. Neither changing the President's authorization, or limiting the number of troops, will ever make it to the President to be vetoed. Congress can't even pass a nonbinding resolution that supports the troops. The new majority needs to come up with something quick, or they run a chance of losing the support of all the moderates who put them in control.

No, Bush has 2 years left and it will take that lots time to end the Baghdad Surge tactic and settle on if its unsuccessful. that's going to be as much as President Clinton and Nancy Pelosi and that guy interior the Senate to settle on what to do with the Iraq Tar infant, or perhaps that could take awhile.

Stay the course.
Iraq War 4 years deaths- over 3,000
Civil War-4 years- 763,153 deaths
Korean War-3 years-54,296 deaths
Vietnam-11 years-56,244 deaths
WW I-1 year-116,516 deaths
WW II-4 years-405,399 deaths
I would say that the lose of life in this war pales in comparison to the other wars we have been involved in. So we are in a war that you don't agree with well your not in charge. Alot of people do agree with it as well as Iraqi's and soldiers so be quiet and ***** about something else like the failed issue of illegal immigration that to me is a bigger problem since we are being invaded by 1000's of foreigners everyday.

Here you go. Just answered another stupid question like this one a few minutes ago so I'll just paste it here. And in return maybe you can do the democratic party a favor and enlighten us all on what their plan is?
Our main priority is to stabilize the region and in the process save ourselves and other rational thinking HUMANS around the world. Since our troops have been in that part of the world how many terrorist attacks have there been on our innocent people here?
BTW, war is hell...there will be casualties. Without it you wouldn't have the freedom to speak your mind however idiotic it may be.

Not a Republican, but am giving my opinion anyway.
The Bush plan is the "Surge" of extra American troops, while Great Britain is pulling out.
Which gives Cheney yet another excuse to interpret the obvious as another parallel dimension of reality that only he and Dumbyah are privy to.
In other words, for the rest of us that deal in the real world, the "Surge" is also know as "pouring gasoline on the fire">

You don't listen to the news, much huh?
We took Saddam Hussien out of power. We helped the Iraqi's have their first REAL elections in 35 years. We are helping them rebuild infrastructure that has been in disrepair for 15 years because Saddam wouldn't share the Oil for Food money, and we are helpign the Iraqis stabilize their government and rid themselves of the scourge of radical Islam who wants this to be an Islamic state.
That's the plan.
ENDSTATE: Leave Iraq as a stable and secure deomcracy capable of defending themselves from enemies both foreign and domestic.
It's working better than the media will allow you to believe.

You gotta admit it sounds a lot better than redeploy (to parts unknown). I think redeploy is French for run like a little girl with your hands in the air.

How many times does he have to explain his plan? The plan is to give the Iraqi people a chance to get their government and military up and running so they can govern and secure themselves. Have you not been paying attention? Yes, it is hard work, and people will die. More people die each day in Compton, CA than Baghdad. Check it out.
Now that I have answered your dumb *** question, what is the Dems plan other than to cut and run and surrender? They own defeat.
