Telling people the truth about how we feel makes us vulnerable and we are both embarrased and affraid of looking to weak or saying the wrong things that we would rather avoid or skirt issues hoping they would resolve things by themselves.

Because you feel that they will not accept it and you for what you are feeling. If you find the right person however they will love and understand what you are feeling and love you no matter what. I tell my husband what i feel on the inside and he does me too. If we did not we would not have much of a marriage and or relationship now would we? Basically the main reason you do not do this is for fear of rejection.

probably cause you don't want to hurt them . even if they have hurt you by saying something and you become quiet your holding back hurting them back so you rather clam up.

and if its the other kind of feeling that you care about someone maybe your not sure if they feel the same way about you i mean if its a new relationship. if your dating or married should be normal to tell the person how you feel. you didn' quit say exactly what the situation was .

but hope this answered the question

Why would you want to keep your feelings inside? One of the best gifts you can give to someone is honesty. I love being able to be myself and tell those I love how I feel......

we often times feel as if we may get rejected if we are truthful, perhaps because of something we experienced before in a relationship, where we were rejected because we were honest. sometimes in our childhood we were not allowed to express ourselves to our parents, we were shut down, made to feel it was wrong, so as we mature that thing is still in us.

I do not do that. When you say "someone" you do mean a significant other, right!
Well, I have no problem telling that "someone" exactly how I feel!

Most men have a real problem talking about feelings, but if you are talking about your wife or girlfriend, believe me, she will be grateful if you do - and you will feel a releif.
