Ok so does anyone know for sure if you can activate phones from other companies with Cricket???

Cricket uses CDMA technology on their network. The only other cell phone carrier that uses CDMA would be Verizon Wireless. So technically Verizon Wireless phones could be compatible with this network. You have to be careful because each cell phone network is already program on their own cell phones using their software and can not be used with another cell phone carrier. The only way you can use any cell phone with Cricket is to buy a cell phone that uses CDMA and is unlocked.
