I saw it last night and it was excellent. It's definitely not a comedy and there were only a few parts I laughed at but it portrayed the history of the British slave trade so that I felt for the struggle that William Wilberforce (the main character played by Ioan Gruffudd) went through to stand up for what he believed. You should definitely go see it.

I saw it Friday, too, and it's excellent. It tells the story of how Englishman William Wilberforce the politician became William Wilberforce the follower of Christ and used his convictions as the driving force behind his efforts to end the slave trade. Wilberforce received forgiveness of his sins through Christ, and lived out this same grace and mercy by "saving" the slaves and redeeming them from the physical slavery that paralleled the slavery of sin he had been released from.
