Well one has to mention Freud somewhere here as he was the psychologist who based all his theories on dreams etc.

dreams don't necessarily have a hidden meaning its more of a way for your subconscious mind to communicate with you on a semi conscious level.

I study psychology, I'm very interested in sleep and I study my field in a quantitative scientific manner..

I believe dreams have significance... not in the spiritual deep kinda way some people do. Your mind asleep is very similar to your mind awake. I bet at some point you've dreamt about something bugging you in real life...?

I believe dreams are significant in the way your mind is still working on problems even when your asleep. I don't believe the answer is hidden in imagery, it's a pretty clear message. But basically your mind still works on the answers and like when your awake they're created by the minds eye...

Hope that made sense...

Because dreams express subconcious thoughts. When something's on your mind you dream about it. Sometimes it makes it clearer, sometimes more complicated. No matter what, there's always a hidden meaning. It's probably even proved somewhere. I don't have a link, but phsyciatrsists can read dreams and stuff right? There must be some kind of hidden meaning of them.

It depends on what you regard as a hidden meaning. If you're referring to a mystical meaning (i.e. psychic or spiritual) then its one of those things which is down to personal belief (like the belief in a higher power).

Scientifically, dreams do have a meaning - they are shaped by the subconscious processing information. A dream can be a wish fulfilment or anything else of a psychological nature.

I don't know how it works and why we still believe in them, but some dreams I have seen have come true. A year ago I saw my maths results 87 in my dreams, and a week after that I got the results and it was exactly what I saw.

Because the meaning is hidden. If they knew what the meaning was, it wouldn't be hidden, now would it.?

Everything has some cause, some meaning. Look for it!

Don't they? Dreams are just long movies filled with symbolism that your brain makes up to entertain itself while we sleep. Although, saying that dreams predict the future is still ridiculous.

why shouldn't they be there are no way of proving that don't have a hidden meaning the fact that some people have the interpretation skills doesn'tmean they are wrong either !

Because the brain is a clever thing. I think everyone has subconscious thoughts, and dreams are a way to unbottle those thoughts so they don't drive us insane.
