Go to START, ALL PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, then SYSTEM TOOLS. Under these you need to defragment. I usually do it two times in a row, and do a disk cleanup.

Now go to START, RUN, then in the window type MSCONFIG, and go to STARTUP. There you can uncheck programs that start up that you do not need. I unchecked like the MS office programs and junk like this. If you have anymore problems let me know. You can have programs on their and they will not slow the computer, except certain ones you do not need running.

Go to the tool bar and click, then click TASK MANAGER, and it will show you what is running.

Oh, and another thing. Bookmark this URLs and they are very informative with the computer stuff. If you read their articles, you might actually learn something. So one day, in the far future, they may stop calling you grasshopper. lol

Check the download section at these sites for some free downloads too. Check the freeware spyware programs out.,and run some.

Now with belarc you can see what is inside your computer. Reason is so you can see if you need to get more memory or RAM. Each computer can only take so much RAM. So putting more memory that it can handle will not make it run faster and then you lose money buying something you do not need.

You probably do not need to delete programs. If you have programs that auto start, or always run, re-set them to off except when in use. Next clear cache, cookies and history. Then go to your heavy duty utilities and do disk clean-up and defrag. The number of programs is not likely the problem. The problem is much more likely how much is running at any time, so if you are not using a program, close it.

Go into your Control Panel... then click on Add or Remove Programs. You can go through a list of programs there and uninstall ones you don't need or don't use. I hope this helps. Also, if you have a lot of pictures or music on your computer, that will slow down the speed of your computer.

if you do have a lot of programs click start at the bottom of the screen the click { control panel } after that click add or remove programs. Also, sometimes viruses and spyware from the internet may slow your computer as well. There are some good free (and trusted) downloads at CNET.com.

To delete programs, go to Start, All Programs, and then right click the program you want to delete. A menu like list appears and click delete. Sometimes, it will tell you that it will just delete the shortcut, but not the program. The follow the link and delete the program at your preference.
