Shivam in Sanskrit (ancient Indian language) means auspicious. It is one of the three often used words comprising 'Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram' (truth, auspicious and beautiful). Sivam is a variation in the spelling of Shivam.

The only word I know of that it might be is 'shiva', which is the orthodox jewish period of mourning the dead for a week or two after the funeral.
