360's do not over heat or freeze... anymore. They did when they first came out but i have had one for over 4 months and not a single freeze. I would take the 360 as it has been out well over a year now so it had some time to knock out the bugs and glitches, as well as shoot out some killer new games like Gears of War and Halo 3. im sure there will be much more to come. The wii, i have nothing against it, in fact i was realllllly close to getting one myself cause i had the 250 to spend (got a zune instead) but i just thought it would be one of those "cool for the first 3 or 4 months" kind of things like the DS was for me. I just got bored of it, im one of those pople who dont want to buy a new game every other week, i want some replay value. I play my 360 about 2-5 hours average per week (well when i first got it literally every waking moment i played it) and i only have 3 games, I just keep replayin them and get better and better. i buy a game maybe every month or so. With the DS, sure it was innovative, but I just got tired of Super Mario 64 and James Bond, and i only had the dang thing for a month. Instead of wasting money on impulsive buy, i just got the 360 along with Halo 2 and havnt looked back. 4 months from then and i still play halo 2 regulary. so to make a long answer short, the 360 has replay value, and as you said, better graphics and better 1st person shoot. the wii, im sure will be MUCH more fun than the 360 at the first month or so, but you will be forced to buy more and more games.... either that, or always play with friends. back to the DS, i did find it REALLY fun to play James Bond against a friend, i cant deny that, with multiplayer + touchscreen = Great replay, and Great fun, for hours. but that requires 2 people.
and that is also assuming the Wii is like the DS.. i dont have the wii, i only played it at gamestop and boy was that thing sweeeet. just wouldnt want to get tired of it
and no offence whatsoever to the person who said how cool it is to download games. But im not kidding on this (as i love the old games too) it is MUCH cheaper to go to a pawn shop, get a SNES or NES, and buy a dozen or to games. This way you get the controler that thsoe games were designed with and the original games. and yes, its cheaper

I love the fact that you can download the old nintendo and super nintendo games to your wii. The original nintendo has been my favorite console since I was a kid, so I am quite partial to that "style" of graphics. Yeah the graphics may not be super realistic, but the games are totally fun. Oh and there are TONS of games....I have played the xbox and although I do like the realistic graphics, I would much rather have the nintendo style any day. Oh I would pick the Nintendo Wii just for the remote! That is the coolest thing ever. You totally get into the games instead of just sitting around, you really physically participate! So yeah, go with the Wii.....
Okay, in response to the guy that said it would be cheaper to go to a pawn shop and buy the systems with the games.....yeah that MAY....and I say may be true in some cases, but the systems are not reliable and the clarity of the games is not going to be as good as the Wii. I have both the nes and snes systems, but both of mine have problems. Some games won't play on them, and some flicker a lot. Others work just fine, but then the system will start acting up. The snes plays all the games, but looks like it has some of that "snow" on the screen. I bought both at pawn shops too.....so all I am saying is that it is nice to be able to play those old games without the fuss of the older systems!

Personally I would get the wii, i do already own a wii and they are great, and have a good variety of games and are very fun playing in wifi. I do not own a 360 but my cousins do and they do enjoy, i have found that many of the 360 games are shooters and i don't think you will want to get them for your 6 year old daughter but the 360 is very very good for x box live. I would go for the wii, there are many good up coming games coming out that will be good for all the fmily like... mario kart wii wii fit and so on go for te wii you will all enjoy it for years to come hope this helps =)

Reasons not to get the Wii:
- Childish games
- bad graphics compared to 360
- boring childish games
- I don't think it has online capabilities, thus you mostly play alone.
- Have fun waving your arms around like a crazy person in order to play anything.
Reasons to get a 360:
- Amazing online game play
- The 360 dashboard that has tons of free trailers and playable demos...so if your ever bored and don't have any money; pick a demo.
- Halo 3, Crackdown, Dead Rising, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Oblivian...must I go on?
- Really good graphics
- They made a collant thingy to keep it from frying...I think it's only 20 bucks.
Get a 360.
