I think you need to look towards animation for this kind of project. Sure, something like An Inconvenient Truth enjoyed a healthy audience and made some people think, but adults are driven by the marketplace. People are buying hybrids, starting to use longer lasting light bulbs, but two parents with three kids aren't looking to add solar panels to their roof until it becomes in their best financial interest to do so.
Film is all about magic and imagination. Your question makes me think of Happy Feet. How many children where affected by the sight of Lovelace choking to death from the plastic six pack rings caught around his neck?
Create a young child in a live action or, because they tend to have larger audience, an animated film who's aware and active in fighting against global warming. An Indiana Jones for the pre teen set. Stay away from the evil corporate empire or you risk losing people in the Heartland who work in such industries. The plastic six pack in Happy Feet is something everyone in the world is guilty of, make society your villain, and while our hero's journey may inspire millions to rally in the story, remember to include his smaller victories, the kind of goals that the average child will be able to start achieving as soon as they get home from the theater.

Yes it has become a religion and Al Gore is the pope of the cult.Think of how much money certain groups will make off of the hype.Think of all that government money going to "research".Besides there is only so much you can do ,after all whoever controls the weather controls the world.Fear is the best political motivator. Climate change is part of the nature of the planet.Common sense is to have clean energy but until there is a buck in it all that happens is talk, talk and more talk.Government regulations, fines and penalties(gotta get that bailout money somewhere) We certainly need clean air and water .I am the original recycler and I don't waste energy just like many other people.I use energy and don't go for the "guilt" trip of doing so. I have a problem with Gore the guru who flies around a fuel guzzling jet.So does Queen Pelosi who opted for a bigger one to fly back and forth to California.Remember her saying she wants to save the planet, yeah she flies we walk.We can all start by using the new energy saving light bulbs. Oh I forgot they are the ones with mercury in them.Oh,well seems like a good idea at the time. I guess you all heard that some genius politician wanted to tax cow farmers for any that own more than 100 for emitting "methane gas" yeah it's true. Can we bottle it instead?Or on second thought send some from the bull to that politician as he knows the B.S. when he sees or smells it.

Yes, unfortunately, you are too late, Al Gore beat you to that. But, everyone could use a little more waking up. Try an animated movie set in the near future, kind of like Minority Report or AI. I think that you have done a lot already that has helped. Show the effects of disaster, kind of like a post apocalyptic world. I recommend watching the CGI anime film 'Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children'. That will give you a feel for what to work on. It revolves around science being used to suck energy from the earth, then the earth's revenge on the planet via 'Geostigma', a disease that is uncurable. Make depression a key theme. Another movie to watch is 'Children of Men'. Make depression a key theme.

I don't think it's up to the movie industry to educate us on those topics. People go to movies to be entertained and therefore a movie would not be taken seriously. Plus, people might see it as political grandstanding and simply not go at all. You will only reach the people who actually go to see the movie. I think since global warming is a global problem, it should be handled in a cooperative effort by all nations and not by politicians who couldn't agree on anything to save their lives.

Hopefully something that will finally make people aware of the huge effect overpopulation is having on our planet. It's important to make them aware now, in order to make things better for future generations and to ensure the survival of our great world. Most importantly, something that will inspire people to really want to make changes now.

A satire about what will happen if no action is taken. Something like a good Kurt Vonnegut style would get attention and entertain.
