The best combo for a long lasting flash light it LED light and lithium batteries. But then again you could also go with LED bulbs and a hand crank charge so you never need batteries, or on eyou put on a charger every night that is what we use at work and i love it.

the LEDs have been proven to illuminate for thousands of hours before burning out, ensuring years of use

Lithium batteries have the highest energy density possible. These are not to be confused with lithium ion batteries, which are not available in flashlight compatible sizes.

Duracell Procell and Energizer Lithium are two commonly available examples of these.

You may also look into getting an LED flashlight from MagLight or Coast as they are far more energy efficient than their halogen counterparts. The light output isn't as high, but seems adequate in my experience.

Here is a suggestion, buy an LED flashlight and any battery will last much longer then in any normal flashlight.
