The same laws should be in effect for games (and music if you ask me) as there is for movies.
I (at 25) remember trying to rent 18 plus movies at 15 and not being able to without a parent..
the same laws should be in effect (don't have kids...are they already in place???)

Parents have the right and responsiblity to choose what entertainment their children partake in. That means parents must be aware that GTA is not for kids under 17 years of age & make sure their seven-year-olds are not playing it.
So who should we blame if kids become violent and immitate the video games they play? The game producers? No, they are just making a game for certain segments of the population. The retailers? No, they can only make sure the children do not buy inappropriate games on their own; adults can buy the games and give them to the kids.
So that leaves us with two parties to be held responsible-the parents and the chidren. Why not blame the kids? That makes sense to a degree. Little Johnny needs to realize the difference between reality and entertainment (movies, cartoons, games and other media). However, teaching that distinction is the job of the parents.

There should be no laws for video games. It's up to parents to keep kids away from violent games. What if parents don't? Well, then the kids will play the games regardless of the laws.

i think that if there is a video game out there that a person feels is too violent, then just don't play it.
The laws that are in place now to help to keep underage kids from buying or renting video games is doing a good job.
how much more can anyone do.

there's already the ESRB rating system so any reasonably responsible parent wouldn't buy games according to their rating. Many states also made it illegal for people under 17 to buy M rated games.
