Look in your cars owners manual and in the back section it will say fluid levels. You can find it there. Or call a parts store such as advance or pep boys, tell them your make and year model and they can tell you.

Its not hard to find out if you have your owners manual, but if you don't have one most auto parts stores can help you with your question. If you have a 4 cylinder, it most likely will take four quarts to get it to the full level, if you have a V-6 or a V-8 that can be anywhere from 4.5 to 5 quarts. Also make sure that the weight of the oil you use is correct (5W30) is most common now. Most oil changes take in that the filter has to be changed, it won't effect the amount of oil you put in because the filters have gotten so small because they don;t stay on for as long as the used to.
Three month or three thousands miles is the norm these days if you do a lot of stop and go driving, if you drive the expressways at a normal 55 mph then you can stretch it to about five thousand miles before you have to change the oil and filter.

Good Luck...

Depends on the vehicle. Some smaller cars can hold as little as 3.25 quarts, where some diesel trucks can hold as many as 12 or more quarts. The earlier suggestion of checking with an auto parts store to find the capacity makes a lot of sense. And always use the dipstick in case the info the give you isn't accurate.

The owner's manual for your car gives you the information. It is essential to have one. If you do not have an owner's manual, you can download one form the manufacture website. You can also purchase one at the dealer or a vehicle parts store. The auto parts store technician can also answer this question for you without having to make a purchase.

Check the manual, 5 quarts fills MOST. If you don't have a manual, it MAY be on a sign in the engine compartment.
