i love simply dresses because they have A TON of great styles and I have ordered dresses and shoes from there myself. definetely a great company with high quality dresses. when you go on their site, browse through the homecoming dress section too, cuz a lot of them are interchangeable with prom dress styles.

i'd really recommend going to a store to look at dresses. something may look cute online and you think you're buying it in your size but it may just not be the most flattering.

check out boston store, JC Penny's, or any other store in the mall that carries dresses.

Think of the theme you are going for, elegant, sweet / cute, or sexy. If you have a certain colour that you like that it's even better.

Rather than just stores in your city, (as you might wear the same dress as someone else in your school) try online sites, including those that sell bridesmaid clothes. I like http://www.mellissasweet.com but too bad they don't deliver to Asia.

I find http://www.davidsbridal.com having a good selection too, but here, you need to get the dress at a local bridal store. Yes, i've been doing research on wedding dresses as i'm going to have my wedding soon (details on http://www.9weddings.com )

If you end up buying a simple dress, then use bold accessories (eg your hair do, brooches, sparkling jewelries) to personalize your looks. Check out for ideas at http://1discountshopping.blogspot.com

Don't forget your shoes too as you won't want to wear ugly looking shoes with your awesome dress right? Strappy high heels with crystals do well ( i have got like over 10 pairs of evening wear high heels, you can check a recent champagne coloured high heel i bought at http://1discountshopping.blogspot.com )
