If you only gave up make up cologne/perfume and deodorant...would you do it?

Unfortunate fact....

The amount that Europe alone spends on cologne and perfume is enough to feed, clothe and shelter the entire world.

Don't ask me for a source....it is in my text for International Development, which is not here...but it is a University text...so it is relatively reliable.

Why do we have to wait until everyone else is on board ...why not take what you spend now and donate it...lead by example.....

Even if all stop using these items, whole world won't be fed.

Problem here is different. There is an unholy alliance of businessmen and politics. There are the people who want to take control of all world resources. and they make sute that they optimum profit. They are quite sure if the whole wold is fed, their profit rate would go down.
Just by stopping use of something doesn't help. We are already in politico-economic system which sucks.

Why do you bleeding hearts continue in your ignorance of basic economics? This hypothetical can be posed a million ways, but it is based on an economic fallacy: how is our not spending money on any particular item going to help the poor? What needs to happen is the poor country become more productive, which will lead to greater wealth. It can be done in a relatively short time--see Korea, Japan, of course even the US was not always wealthy.

Examine the facts, the historical record of aid to poor nations--it is quite dismal, because the bad government that created the disaster to start with is who benefits from our generosity, only prolonging the bad government.

Note to Hectic: Sure, our economic system sucks. but it is the best one that has ever been tried, and it isn't even a close competition. As soon as you can figure out a way to get people to work hard and take financial risks for the benefit of other people, you may have a chance of finding a better system. Good luck.

Yes, if everyone else was on board too.

And if the greedy sob's in office could stay out of it.
