I smoked a lot of cigarettes, more than 40 a day, for many many years. One day my lungs collasped. I was forced to stop. After 5 years, I started smoking again. I did not realise, how much I smoked, till I stopped. You climb in the car, you light up. Finish eating you light up. Relax after work or sport, you light up. Have a drink, morning coffee, after sex ect.
The other noticeable thing, was that I was so conditioned to having a cigarette between my fingers, that I did not know what to do without holding something.
Even now, I know that I need to stop, but it is getting harder and harder. It is not that I constantly crave nor think about it, it is more the activities that I do, that I associate with smoking.

i have been told that i am a very uptight person. apparently that is enhanced during nicotine withdrawls. so, while i have had friends and family ask me to quit, if they are near me on a bad day they say i am unbearable and they are the ones to go out and buy me a pack of cigarettes. that has been my downfall the last three times i tried to quit. however, i have a brand new pack of nicotine gum to begin again tomorrow and i have no friends or family stopping by for the next couple weeks so no one should be buying me any. we'll see how it goes.
