I have driven the Hummer H2 and H3. Nothing good about them. They are slow, bad gas mileage, not big on the inside, a 6ft. person will hit the ceiling on bumps, and unpractical design. It is expensive because lots of people want them. People want them because famous people have them. The only reason they are expensive is because famous people buying them made the price go up because more people would want to buy them.

According to Jim Walczak, they are supposed to be a great off-road vehicle. He also states:
" It's very large, yet handles with more precision than some smaller trucks. The Hummers' turning radius (26.5 feet) is good compared to other large sport-utes. It can travel places other vehicles cannot. It can go virtually anywhere: through rivers, mud, snowdrifts, and over obstacles of many sizes. It doesn't ride like a tank, and the OnStar system is standard. It is a more sophisticated 4WD system than most SUVs, including a lockable differential and traction control that only requires one wheel to have traction, plus a second mode for mud or sand driving.
The fact that a Hummer is a full-time 4WD means powerful 4-wheel drive capabilities at all times. And lastly, despite the poor gas mileage, the Hummer comes with a 32-gallon gas tank, so it will go just as far on one tank of gas as most other vehicles.

Not much. Keep in mind the Hummer H1 was designed for military use and is over-built to withstand a lot. The H2 is nothing more then a GM truck chassis ( Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra) with a different body. The H2 was built to capitalize on the macho, American obession with the, uh, "style" of the H1 but doing it with mass-production mechanicals and a much, much more civilized ride and interior.
The H2 is comfortable and powerful, but sucks down fuel, isn't maneuverable, hard to see out of and, in my personal opinion, ugly. But until gas hit $3/gallon in the US, GM sold every damn one at $50k
The H3 is based on the Chevy Colorado/ GMC Canyon platform and is just GM trying to cash in on the people who love the H2 but can't afford it. Haven't seen many of them. If the H2 is for the poseurs who want the H1 but can't afford it, what is the H3 good for? A poseurs' poseur?

They're great to watch get stuck in every mud hole they try going through.
All a new hummer is, is a modified Chevrolet Tahoe. Same engine, transmission and running gear.

Low production, everything on it is super duty and over done to with stand anything, way too much vehicle for anything anyone could need for day to day use. Intended for war zone, novelty item for some.

Nothing, they're big and stupid. The only reason they're so expensive is because people are dumb enough to buy them.
