It was clean and I don't buy into the whole, unneccessary thing because it is what Neil is payed to do. I think it was a shot, not a pass too. Lindy Ruff whining about how much chaos it would be if it were Crosby is just spouting off. Crosby would have seen him coming because his head would be up and he knows where everyone is . I love old time hockey. No worse than Stevens on Lindros and that was fine. It was a shoulder. Neil may have been headhunting but so what?? Don't like it, then he should have took up figure skating.

I thought Neil's hit was sketchy. It wasn't an elbow, the hit was clean but very late. He should have gotten a penalty for it but it's hockey, I'm not going to think less of him for it. The hit was bad, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it dirty. So, no.

Ditto with the ensuing faceoff. The Sabres have to take care of business. Again, it's hokcey. Buffalo just had their co-captain KOed from the game, and they want to make the opposition think twice before they try that again. The Sabres are having a special season and they are trying to defend their guys so they can make a run at the Cup.

It wasn't a dirty hit, although it was a shade late. He did not hit him with the elbow even though it looked like that was his intentions. Drury is a pro and a pretty good one at that. He should not have been in that position. I understand it happens, but when it does don't cry the blues becasue it was one of your guys. So I would have to say again dirt-no shade late-yes.

That was definitly a clean hit... if you want to see some dirty hits look at marty mcsorly, brashear, the guy that elbowed michalek in the sharks play-off game last season... it may have been one second lat but there wern't any elbows or helmet to helmet. If he wore his helmet tighter then it woudn't have come off and caused the hard hit on the ice which cut his face!

I'm a Sabres fan, and I dont think it was dirty. But I cant disagree with Lindy's decision to go after Ottawa's best line. It's hockey baby.

I believe that Neil's hit was clean, but was definitely unesecary. Everybody knows playing with your head down is NOT good, so in the end, drury could have most likely prevented it. It happens as you said, and i do not think we should dwell on it.

The hit itself looked clean - no elbow and no charge ...

The timing of it was late but not by much.

Drury is enough of a veteran to keep his head up and strap on his lid! Had his helmet stayed on there wouldn't have been the cut and bleeding and he would have potentially avoided the concussion.

I agree with the earlier poster ... what was done to Spezza and Heatley was cowardly and should result in LARGE suspensions! You want to get back at Neil ... fine. You want to hit Ottawa hard ... do it! just do it within the rules.

And to jump the goalie because he was winning his fight ... give me a break!

I thought it was a nice little pop, didn't see one cheap thing about it.But with a heavy hit like that the team on the receiving end takes exception more times than not.

Nope! It looked clean in the replays. Should be 2 minutes for having your head down. "Ohhh - look at me! I made a pretty pass!" The announcers even said that.

The Dirty plays were at the next face off. Cross checks and face washings, etc.
