If you are the bride, and the groom had a name like patio, roof, stairwell, gutter, etc.
Would you take his name?

What if you could add one or two letters to the grooms name and it would make it into a really cool name!??!
Then you as a couple change it into the new last name.
It would save your future children being made fun of !!

Would you do it??
Why or why not?

Here is another idea....
Put the two names together with brides last name such as:
Patiotaylor
Roofmiller
Patiosmith
Stairwellmiller etc.
This is a real question!!
Thanks for your thoughts!!!

I really want our new and future family to have the same last name and the bride does not want to keep her lame last name.

Thanks again!

Let me get this...you're saying you both think you have lame last names? You don't say what the groom's real last name is but I'll tell you this from experience, if people can read it, it's simple and, they can pronounce it then the name is fine and the bride should take it. Combining the two names is very lame and makes the name a difficult one. I'd say if neither of you wants either of your last names then choose an acceptable "family" name and change it when you marry.

FYI: I was born with a very difficult last name and no one could pronounce it until they knew me longer and no one could spell it except for me. Even with all that I was still very proud of my birth name. I married and my name was simple, I liked that. When I divorced I changed my last name to a family name (my grandmother's maiden name, Johnson) because I didn't want to go back to the difficult name. It has been so super nice with such an easy name that I can introduce myself and it immediately sticks in the mind of the person I meet because it is so easy. It was one of the best things I have ever done!

Patio, roof, etc are not that bad. There are people with names like Roach, Leach, etc. If my husband had, had some awful last name I probably wouldn't have wanted to take it. I think it is up to the two of them to decide what is best for them and their future family. If you can come up with an agreeable combo name that might be good. Or he could even take the bride's last name. I wouldn't be too upset about the Patio or Roof type of names though. I would probably just take his name if it was something like that. Congratulations on your engagement!!! :)

I used to have an easily dreadful time in boarding college in terms of my identify. valuable, Phil McCrackin is my rather set up, notwithstanding i've got had it so long now I likely would not be efficient to bear in mind my new identify if I switched over it, and as i'm no longer interior the common flush of youngsters the darling enjoyed ones of mine could via and massive cry 'dementia' get him in a condominium rapid !!. So i'm going to comfortably proceed on as i'm and save new people I meet thinking if that rather is my become attentive to, which may well be acceptable relaxing an excellent sort of the time.

I like the merging of the two names together, it's kind of like a comprimise and might be a little harder for children to find some goofy saying to rhyme with it.

Probably a good idea...
I have an aunt named Sherry Sharrah. She probably could have been made fun of at some point...

If it's something really goofy like that, I would say probably hyphen the two last names or something...She would have been Sherry Ford-Sharrah if she would have. I dunno, I guess its up to the person!

I'm changing my name - regardless of what his name is. He had to live with it, so now I have to as well. Plus - I would have known that name for a while, its not like it snuck up on me lol.
