I have heard spiders do not like the smell of cinnamon You could try sprinkling some around or have cinnamon scented sachets or potpourri.

I, too, have the phobia, but like was already said, live with it!. Because I recognize the stupidity of it, I just vacuum often. I vacuum the walls and floors at least once a week. I take the vacuum down cellar at least once every 2 months and vacuum the rafters. Even though I have the phobia, I realize the value of them, and try to leave a few to eat the earwigs, crickets, etc., that get into the cellar. Your girlfriend has a self created problem that she, and she alone, has to learn to live with. Not you or her parents.

You can't unless you spray, but, there is this product, which works for awhile: SpiderNot. The name can't be any clearer. I had to cover the image of the spider on the front with duct tape because I'm that phobic, but I'm telling you - this stuff just makes spiders "not." (I'd be careful about using it around pets as you would if you used raid.)
I used it to get rid of those spiders that love to crawl around and hide in the outer cracks of your car. In fact, I pretty much use it on every kind of bug. It just plain works. And I'm telling you, spiders DO NOT LIKE THIS.
Oh, and I'd buy a Swiffer Sweeper. They're great for using to squish things on corners and on ceilings because they maneuver so well.
Good luck.

Spiders are attracted by the presence of other insects in the house. Without spraying, I'm afraid you are out of luck.

Dump her....do you really want to spend your life with such a tit-baby???? Spiders are everywhere...do you need to leave a key corporate meeting to come home & kill a spider?
Because that is what will happen, sometime down the road!!
Either she gets OVER her fear, or you get OVER her.
There's no room in this cut-throat world for namby-pambies.
