Until your sore throat has run its course, try these measures to ease your discomfort:

1. Double your fluid intake. Fluids help keep mucus thin and easy to clear.

2. Gargle with warm salt water. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a full glass of warm water, gargle, and then spit the water out. This will soothe your throat and clear it of mucus.

3. Use honey and lemon. Stir honey and lemon to taste into a glass of very hot water, allowing it to cool to room temperature before you or your children sip it. The honey coats and soothes your throat, and the lemon helps cut mucus. This time-tested recipe may relieve most of your pain — if only temporarily.

4. Suck on a throat lozenge or hard candy. This isn't necessarily soothing in itself, but it does stimulate saliva production, which bathes and cleanses your throat.

5. Humidify the air. Adding moisture to the air prevents your mucous membranes from drying out. This can reduce irritation and make it easier to sleep. Be sure to change the water in a room humidifier daily and clean the unit at least once every three days to help prevent the growth of harmful molds and bacteria.

6. Avoid smoke and other air pollutants. Smoke irritates a sore throat. At least while you're sick, stop smoking and avoid all fumes from household cleaners and paint. And don't expose children to secondhand smoke.

7. Rest your voice. If your sore throat has affected your voice box (larynx), talking may lead to more irritation and temporary loss of your voice (laryngitis).

8. Avoid infecting others. If you're not well, take a few days off to avoid spreading your germs to others.

hi,

You may try some home remedies for sore throat:

* Add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, a pinch of cayenne pepper, juice of 1/4 a lemon, and 1 teaspoon of honey to a cup. Add 1 cup of hot water and stir. Drink up to 4 cups a day.

* Gargle with aloe Vera juice two times daily.

* Prepare a tea by adding 2 sprigs of coarsely chopped parsley, 3 whole spice cloves, 1 teaspoon of powdered myrrh, and 1/4 teaspoon powdered goldenseal to 1 pint of boiling water. Steep. Stir occasionally while cooling, then strain and use as a gargle or mouthwash.

Hope this may help you!!

Sore throats are usually started by sinus drainage, so the best thing to do would be:

1. Take tylenol or another analgesic to remove perceived pain.
2. Take medicine to stop the sinus drainage, like sudafed, benadryl.
3. Gargle salt water to break up the drainage that exists, or take mucinex to make the mucus more liquid so it drains easily.
4. Suck on hard candy. It does the same thing as cough drops, and doesn't taste horrible.

I take ludens and gargle with salt water the minute I start to get the ichy feeling in my throat. I still end up with a little cold but no sore throat. I think the cold isn't as bad and doesn't last as long.

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

Lots of fluid. Avoid acidic foods or other things that can irritate your throat (orange juice, tomatoes, salty foods). Drink hot tea with lots of honey in it. Honey has a natural antibiotic in it that really helps sore throats, so if you can you could always eat a teaspoon of that too. Foods high in vitamin C help to.

The best think I have found is a water of tea tree oil.

Take 8 OZs water and 10 drops of tea tree oil. Shake well and use that as a gargle then spit out the tea tree water after gargling.

Two good alternatives is to gargle warm sage tea, or warm salt water.
