I am writing an essay, and I have to tell the specific medium that was used in a gallery. My sentence is:

The ten paintings were all done as an oil on panel medium,......

Is this correct? How should medium be used? Thanks for your help.

You don't actually have to mention the word medium.

The ten paintings are oil on panel. Or pen and ink. Or acrylic on fiberboard.

To use the word medium as you have mentioned it is like saying
"I have a Chevrolet Blazer car." It is redundant. Just as a Chevy Blazer tells your reader the item is a car, the mention of oil on panel tells your reader that the medium is oil on panel.

The medium used in creating all ten paintings was oil on panel.

Be warned: I don't understand the sentence. But, "The ten paintings were oil-on-panel mediums" might work.

just leave 'all' out and it sounds fine.If you are writting on specific medium then it should be left in there.
