Everything is connected, you see. By studying literature, we get an unadulturated history of thought. We can build upon these, and improve the future. I (nonthreateningly) suggest you read some good literature.

Very true, but all those other classes help you become who you are. Look at literature, its all the forms of art from a certain culture. People need to know about all of that because we shouldnt forget about what things used to be like long ago and how things got to where they are today. It also gives students a chance to view other studys so they can decide what they want to do with the rest of their life. what if a student took a literature class and discovered they have a nack for it.

I asked myself the same question years ago...it's simple life isn't just based in math and science; life is a complex web formed by many other things. Plus, learning about history, literature, etc...helps you build an opinion, form your character, define your position.
Everything is linked and important, just like Biology as a field is linked with Math, Chemistry, Sociology, others...

Because, it is called education. A verity of learning skills. That would really be boring in my opinion. Literature and history are fun if some one takes the time to learn about it. our world is not only"math & science because you need to know how to read to learn science.

I totally disagree! Have you never read Shakespeare? Even if you hate all other forms of literature, you have to admire the genius of Shakespeare. He writes about the stuff of life, of people, that matters. Just the language he possesses is shear beauty- it's pure art, and art uplifts the human spirit. And then, WHAT he writes about- the deep themes he touches upon, touch the soul!!The way we relate to each other. Universal themes such as love, life, and death...there is MORE to this world then just plain boring mathematical equations and science. There is what it means to be human, which is beyond any formula. I say life doesn't have much meaning without art, without literature, without music--life would be wayy tooo boring!

thats interesting. i feel just the opposite.

Math and science is dependent of what career path you choose, its the arts like literature that help to enrich our lives and make us refine and cultured. Anyone can learn math or science they are just sets of definite rules, but you hold individuality when you regard great pieces of art that are reflections of human emotion. And emotions are everything in life, not statistical information or irrelevant cold facts.

I've though about it.....That's a pretty narrow view of education and places no value in the creative and contemplative part of the mind. Imagine how boring life would be without it.

By the way...I think you could use a little more grammar so you won't start EVERY word with a capital letter....yeesh!

And also another thing is that they should teach you the importance of keepin gyour credit good. P.S. Some poeple don't have the parents to teach you this stuff!!

How interesting!

As a published artist AND writer, I have wondered all my life why the hell we need to study math and science. After all, it doesn't help me make a living, does it?

Some people don't like math and science. Too bad we live in a democracy.
