In the pregnancies where the baby is pre term... say 24 weeks. (In Canada they don't even try to save them unless they are 24 or 25 weeks gestation). If you are 24 weeks according to the ultrasound, so in YOUR mind you are 24 weeks. When you go to the hospital and they go by your LMP (even if irregular periods) and if that says that you are only 23 weeks... will they then not to try to save baby, even though in your mind and according to the ultrasound you are six or seven days different?

I worked in Neonatal unit in the early 1970's in the US. At that time they attempted to save the lives of 24 weeks or more. We did have a 26 weeker survive and eventually do well. To think that person is probably 30 something now really Blows My Mind.

If you start having problems you go into the Emergency Room no matter what. You tell them what gestational age you believe the baby to be. They will do whatever they can to save a child.

I'm pretty sure if your going to the hospital for preterm labor they would do an ultrasound first...Ultasound gives a more accurate date...... because most women do not know the exact day of conception, doctors use LMP to figure out a due date...I would go by an ultrasound date vs. LMP unless you know the exact date of conception..Good Luck~

Good question, but by here most of the time they go by your LMP date not US unless theres more than a 2 week period.

Good luck.

Ultrasounds are only accurate at the very beginning of a pregnancy. After that the baby kinda grows as it will. Some grow bigger and faster others smaller and slower. They should go by your last period.

Wow. Here in the US, they'll try to save them as early as 21 weeks. I hope you never have to find out from experience what they'd do.
