If someone's handwriting has shrunk drastically to a microscopic size, what does it mean?

if you are speaking of a child's handwriting...at the end of second grade, in hird grade, and in fourth grade, it is typical for children to experiment and begin writing very small. it's linked (supposedly...i read about it in one of my ed. methods classes) with their emotional development. it's nothing to worry about. i remember goofing around and writing things really teeny tiny, in elem. school, just to see if anyone could read it.

it also shows greater fine motor control. as i said, experimentation.

That is interesting, because I've found that my handwriting shrinks when I'm depressed and gets bigger if I'm angry. Normally my handwriting is fairly smooth and very easy to read (teacher handwriting). But when I'm depressed, it's like my writing gets as small as I feel. And the angrier I am, the larger my writing gets. I have a student right now who struggles to get by in school. Her handwriting is so small I can hardly read it. I don't think she feels very good about herself.

I can't tell you exactly what it means, but in my personal experience I associate small handwriting with unhappiness.

They need to relax and try to loosen up a little. I find when I am upset I write smaller and more uniformed.
