Sure it is fine. For some women it is unfulfilling because they would prefer to have a man all to themselves.
The advantage of being a mistress is that you can have multiple partners without really being unfaithful. A modern women takes a lot more to satisfy so it gives you options as to how you can fulfill your needs.
Another advantage is that a lot of the hot guys are taken. That way you get to have some of the cake without having to look after the big baby!!

It hasn't changed. To be a mistress is still something everyone considers to be wrong. Unless you are the mistress, you don't feel this way. If a mistress put herself in the shoes of the wife she might think it was wrong, but all she wants is the temporary love she is getting. A man will not leave the woman he married for anyone. He just wants something different with someone else. He will always love his wife. If you're in this position get out of it before you get hurt.

A mistress has always been around before the dawn of our time. For whatever reason men have seemed to kept one on the side.
Modern days I think are to risky for the old fashion world. Personally I am monogamists, but what my man does when I'm not around I have no idea. He would be crazy to have a "mistress" on the side I would find out. I am old fashion , but that is a lil' to old fashion for my liking.

People don't generally consider "mistresses" to be moral, decent, or respectable, but those who are tend to live rather plush existences. It's certainly not supported by the Sexual Revolution because it's more of an indication of being possessed than being equal. (Although mistresses seem to have been the ones doing the possessing throughout history...)

Being a mistress is wrong, because its not just simply having a sexual relationship with someone, its helping that person decieve their partners, and cause their families grief. I dont know how anyone could respect someone who would carry on a torrid affair, rather then just getting a divorce.

How many centuries have men been taking mistresses? Trading in one 'model' for the next, newest best thing? Ever heard of Henry the 8th - he created the Church of England just so he could trade in the older model he didn't want anymore.

Its a stupid thing! You cannot really get involved with someone else without losing a part of yourself -- it just cannot be done. Being a mistress is just too emotionally draining to be a rewarding activity.

From before the birth of Christ, men have kept mistresses. In different cultures, they could be interpreted in different forms, such as a geisha in Japan, a concubine in China, a lady of the harem in the Middle East.

I don't even understand your question. You talk about it like it's a fashion trend. If you ask me, there should be an Alcatraz for mistresses, where they will be tortured emotionally and physically every single day. They're homewreckers and sluts and should just go to hell.
