As a sociology experiment, I want to wear something in public that is bizarre and outside of the societal norm, and that will catch peoples' attention. Nothing illegal or overly sexual. For example I was thinking about wear a simple white eye mask in the mall but I believe that is illegal. So...any suggestions along those lines?

lol.... a mask.... someone will think u were going to hold up a store..lol... bizarre to me would be... goth... with the makeup on.... spikes..lol...sounds like fun... or heck do the homeless look... wear rags....

There is a magazine with a "pranks" column and they send an intern out every month to do something sort of weird and get a reaction.
One of the best ones was a girl who applied fake eyelashes (the single ones) but instead of on her eyes she glued them on between her eyes to make it look like she had a serious Frida-worthy unibrow.
You might try something like that!

I didn't see anyone mentioned this idea. How about wearing mismatched clothes?
Like, wearing the top part of a tuxedo with blue jeans, or a dress. Or you can just get
all the clothes that you have in your closet and then throw them all up in the air, then start grabbing clothes at random and putting them on.

I used to see this person wear a long nose. About 7 inches and he sat right in the entrance to the Mexico gate and played guitar. He would always have it on. I always wondered but never asked. Perhaps he too was on to the same thing. Good luck and have fun.

i agree with the lady above! you should totally do the goth thing. make your face liquid paper white and then black eyeliner around you eyes, black finger nails, just mess you hair all up, black lipstick, black finger nails, lots of fake piercings, in the lips eyebrows, nose, just go all out you gotta do the choker thing around your neck, you gotta put spikes on it though, lots of silvery things. i don't think i have ever seen one wear gold. not for sure though. oh yeah by the way try to look as depressed and miserable as possible, not all but most of them look like that all the time! hope this helps, holly

I've been to the mall. Weird has already been taken. I don't think there is anything you could do that would appear unusual.

wear grandpa's underdraws over your blue jeans, they would have to be white. They wouldn't look very sexy but they would sure catch everyone eye
