While there are some few people who don't sleep, it is very rare. See a doctor first, and consider a visit to a sleep disorders clinic. Is there a cause related to a life event? Nightmares? Consider hypnotherapy or psychotherapy. Exercise vigorously for at least 30 mins. daily, but not within 2 hrs of bedtime. No coffee or tea within 6 hrs of bedtime. Have a warm bath or shower, then a very warm glass of milk, just before bedtime. No TV, loud music, or anything exciting near bedtime, and read something boring. Keep a sleeptime routine, so your subconscious mind knows that it is time to go to sleep. Don't nap during the day. Keep your bed for sleeping only (unless you have a partner). Don't come to rely on sleeping tablets, although they may be of help at first. A visit to: http://www.relax7.com/7.php can't hurt, and may help. Well, first you need to find out what keeps you from sleeping. Is it stress, is your bed uncomfortable, do you maybe go to bed to late to to early?, do you drink a lot of coffee, tea or alcohol? My tip when some of the above are bothering me: I take a hot bath, drink chamomile tea, eat a light snack like cheese or banana for a good blood sugar level and I use some lavender oil and take some homoeopathic Okubaka. If I cannot sleep after 20 Minutes I get up and read a book until I am sleepy again, then I do some Yoga breathing exercises and go back t bed. This works for me. I would not take sleeping pills etc as it just disguises the real issues and make you drowsy. Good luck.

do you have any worries, is there a major event in your life coming up, has there just been one, exams, recent deaths in the family etc can all cause insomnia.....if you can tak eone thing at a time and sort it out clearly in your head it can help a lot.
depression can cause this also.
avoid drinks with caffiene, read a book for half an hour before bed, use your bedroom only for sleeping (dont use it for watching tv or consoles etc) maybe try a short walk to get some fresh air into you.
natural remedies should be ok but i would avoid prescribed drugs.

You know, being bored is almost a guarantee you will sleep all night. I would have you watch an old Godzilla movie from the 1960s or something equally foolish and funny. Then you would stop worrying about not sleeping, and before you knew it you would find that you wouldn't be able to make it through more than about eighteen minutes of the movie. Then you would be crawling on all fours up the stairs to your trundle bed.

If you do not sleep AT ALL then you should see a doctor/medic.

If its not sleeping well, it could be down to stress and anxiety - in that case you could obtain a hypnotic, either from your doctor (such as a tranquillizer) or get a natural one from a herbalist (such as valerian).

Do you snore? some people wake themselves up snoring and find sleeping well difficult.

Avoid alcohol, caffiene, smoke, they are all stimulants and make it hard to sleep.

Relaxation tapes you can get from many shops online or otherwise, can help to relax you so that you get in a right frame of mind to sleep.

Having a relaxing bath before sleep can help - try lavender oils.

Many people including myself find that if we dont get to sleep within 30 minutes we start to lay in bed stressing. This is counter productive and if you find that, get up, do something away from the bed for 30 minutes, then return and give it another try.

Most of all, don't get upset about not sleeping well and don;t worry about it. The human body under normal circumstances is very good at telling itself when to sleep or not.

Hope that helps :o)

Valerian Root helps me when I have trouble sleeping and I don't feel hung over in the morning. You can get it at any pharmacy.

You might want to see a doctor if you have insomnia, or if you mind just keeps racing and that is what stops you from sleeping.

Good Luck.

you should probably see a doctor. but a natural way to help get to sleep, if you don't already, is to make sure to get at least an hour of exercise every day that you can fit it in.
