I'm using OE 6.0. The paper clip icon is displaying for many of my emails, even they are "normal" emails - meaning they are just text with no attachment. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks very much.

Thank you very much for the responses. Sorry for being a bit unclear. What I'm trying to say is if I send a message to myself, with just the word "Hi" in the title, when it's received by me, even THAT message, which has one word in it and nothing else, shows a paper clip icon (!). How strange.

Some peoples information is an attachment in Outlook. That might be what you are seeing.

Be wary of these emails now. Some are just a virus just begging for you to clip the attachment. Nothing will show up, just that all of a sudden computer problems may arise. Be wary. And what is normal mail that has only attachments. Couldn't figure that one out.

Go to Tools -> Options -> Security

Make sure "Do not all attachments to be saved or opened which could potentially have a virus." is deselected.

"Ok" out of that and now you should see your attachments.

As others have written, take care when opening the attachments. Make sure you have some form of anti-virus on your PC and generally use caution.

Are you double clicking the email? (to expand it to full page so you can see everything) If so, look at the bottom, that's usually where the attachments are.
