this happened to me today. my roomate just happened to be there and the real estate agent and potential buyers just walked right on in without even knocking!! When they were confronted by my roomate, they said the owner had given them permission to go right on in and check it out. My landlord didn't even contact me (i do have a cell phone) about this deal.. Does he have the right to do this?

The law in some states is 24 hour notice. But, any notice would be proper etiquette.

No right at all. Even though he owns it, it is or should be courtesy to give you 24 hours notice to show the place. If this continues to happen, and I know this may be an inconvenience, then I would just start leaving the house a mess and prospected buyers will be turned off. Word will get back to the seller and he'll think twice before the next time he tells the realtor to just go on in w/o giving you a heads up first.

If the owner exceptionally states interior the hire approximately promoting the domicile once you're nonetheless below settlement, then specific, the owner is authorized to sell his domicile without giving you advance warning. notwithstanding, the owner could and that i believe is had to offer you 24 hours observe formerly letting in people to view the domicile. If it would not, i could examine the tenant/landlord regulations on your state to make sure. Or consent with a criminal expert to make sure. examine your hire very intently. Ask the owner if there is something you're able to do or in case you may flow out early.

In NYS, they are supposed to give you 24 hours notice. Not sure if that applies in other states.

Usually they just post a form letter on your door the previous day.
