Tried to log on to my ebay account but kept getting rejected.

So I check my email and there's a notice from ebay stating:

Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,

It appears the password for your eBay account may have recently become compromised. As a result of this, we have reset your password and secret question.

To regain control of your account, please complete the following:

1. Change the password on your personal EMAIL account to verify that it is secure and cannot be accessed by anyone other than you.
2. Change the password on your eBay account. To do so, click the "Forgot your password" link on the eBay sign-in page and change your password using the instructions provided.
3. Follow the steps below to secure your account:

Does this mean someone actually got my password or that someone tried by guessing over and over??????

I did change my password.....

OK, the email is legit because I logged in ebay acct and there was the same notice.
I did get fooled once and responded to a spoof but I changed password immediately. But that was months ago.

I guess if I don't like someone I can just guess their password and they have to go through the hassle too... geez. I bet it was someone I outbid recently.

Sometimes those are "phishing" emails, but if your account really is no longer letting you in then it might be a problem. Most likely someone has obtained your password or guessed it as you suggested. Change it to something completely different.

Follow those instructions and make sure you access ebay by typing in the URL, not by any links in any email you receive.

Good luck. I hope it all works out for you.

Log back into your ebay account.
NEVER change it from an email!!!
They never ask you for your password in an email!!

Go back into www.ebay.com
Log IN
go to your personal page
Change your password again using Caps, and small leters and at least 1 number!!

This could have been a phisng email.

You can look at your MY EBAY page and see if there is any activity on it.

good luck.

IM if you need help.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THE EMAIL.. it could be a phishing attempt. Phishing is when another faulty website puts on the facade of ebay (same image) to capture your information. If you do get this message forward it on to spoof@ebay.com
