That is a hard one since both countries have interesting histories, fantastic museums, and great food.

There is no where like Paris with the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triumphe, Louvre and Musee d Orsay. The bread and the pastries are to die for and there is a bakery on almost every corner. The people are nice but not as nice as the Spanish.

I got lost in Madrid looking for the bus to the airport and a middle aged woman took my hand and walked me to the stop. Madrid is fantastic. I went to the Prado the month they had a Goya exhibition and it was amazing. Tapas bars abound with little bites of heaven and the flamenco shows are very exciting. A breakfast staple is dipping your freshly made churro into the puddinglike hot chocolate. Some of the Spaniards I met, kept urging me to go to Barcelona and to the South of Spain.

It depends on what you are looking for, I would go back to either in a heartbeat.
