Why is it that the Philippines section of Yahoo! Answers travel forum seems to be the one with the most stupid irrelevant questions, 80% of them having absolutely nothing to do with travel.

Most of the questions are about gossip, politics, religion or food.

Does anybody posting such stupidity realise that all their questions are also viewed on the worldwide section of Travel in general?

How do you all think the rest of the World views the moronic stuff that appears on this site. Do you really think Filipinos will become known for their knowledge and intelligence in this way.......

By the way, I've lived here for 15 years and love it, I'm concerned with the rest of the Worlds perception of the mentality of people here who post such rubbish where the rest of the World can laugh at it.
I wish Filipinos could present a better profile to people around the World instead of acting like clowns on this very public forum

Why don't you create your own website for Philippine Travel? Why don't you contact Yahoo and suggest they add a "General Philippine" Category? This is not the first time you have posted here so obviously something must turn you on or why do you keep coming back?

If I was traveling to the Philippines I would want to know something about the political climate so how is politics not relevant to travel? Most of the historic sites in the Philippines has something to do with religion so how is religion not relevant to travel. Most travel magazines have a section devoted to the foods of the countries they are covering so the experts obviously consider food important to travel.

Perhaps during your 15 years in the Philippines you should have traveled more to other places and you would have a better idea of what interest people when traveling. I suspect what really is upsetting is that you are not getting the opportunity to demonstrate to the world the vast knowledge you think you have gained about the Philippines and its people during the 15 years you have lived there. I think you are more concerned about demonstrating your knowledge and intelligence than that of the Philippine people.

Maybe not all questions are relevant to travel, but the word Philippines is the magnet here. The people involved are often just trying to find the right people to answer their question. In a general forum they just would not be found. So all in this is the most likely place to get a reasonable answer to a reasonable question:
Okay there are some questions, that are put on here to provoke people, but just don't take the bait.

Yes I live on the Island of Cebu with my Filipina wife of many years, and I previously travelled here on many occasions. I know many Filipinos in UK, here and other places, and if I can help I will. Be it travel, food or where to buy something in UK.

Fed up with stupid questions 'aka' Tequila Mike.

You are taking this all too seriously.
Don't you realise that you don't have to read or answer any question that has nothing to do with travel to the Philippines?
I do agree with you that ther are some pathetically stupid questions being asked but again no-one has to answer them.

You do give good answers about travelling to or in the Philippines.
My suggestion to you would be to answer the travel questions so that others can avail of your knowledge and if you want to let off some steam answer some of the crap ones.

I have looked at some of the other forums and they also have their fair share of morons so it not only pertains to this site.

Sit down, relax and have a cup of tea and come out fighting.

Go back to using Tequila Mike

Maybe you should read again what "tom1941" said, that perhaps "...you are more concerned about demonstrating your knowledge and intelligence than that of the Philippine people."
- To a certain extent I see your point. About 5 years ago I used to be with AOL and visited my own AOL English board (I am English) . As my wife is filipina, I visited the AOL Phils board too and because I love Portugal I frequented the AOL Portugal board as well. The Phils board was a joke, to be honest. Whereas other boards were interesting, the Phils board was... embarrassing. HOWEVER, with respect, I do not find this Yahoo Answers Phils board that bad. I only read the bits that interest me. Also, tit isn't a show of intellects. You have people here of all social backgrounds, all intellectual backgrounds but they all have one thing in common --- THE PHILIPPINES. Some of us aren't Filipinos but, like me, they have a strong affinity with the Phils --- I am married to a beautiful, very intelligent and very well educated filipina girl ( we are both attorneys in England). We come here occasionally not for any intellectual stimulation but "to be" with other filipinos. But, again, I agree with you that Yahoo Answers needs a more GENERAL section for the Phils Y. Answers. I myself made that the core of one of my own questions. I come here if I need to ask anything SPECIFIC to filipino people about their country, culture or anything Filipino and unless I have a GENERAL section on the Philipines that I can go to, I will continue to come here and ask, "travel" or not. Sorry if that upsets "travellers". BTW, I have been to the Phils 6 times and shall go again as soon as I can.

Don't take it so personal. Some people have to hide to say what they would not say if they were seen in public also from what I noticed, the philippine travel section of yahoo answers is very popular believe or not.

You will find negativity and positive comments about different topics of the philippines.

Personally, I think The Philippines is an interesting place to visit.
Everyone got their own taste and style as to what they like. The philippines is not for everyone in this world but I am one of the few who enjoy the philippines.

The PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS should be the blame for worlds perception of the Philippines.

Maybe it's partly Yahoo's fault for not providing a GENERAL Philippine forum. It so happens that the only place with the name Philippines is in the Travel forum - and I don't know if you have looked around, but the other countries listed under travel, have their share of basura too.

I think I already asked this question before. I have grown tired in reporting these stupid and abusive questions to Yahoo. Imagine, where can you find a Travel forum where people are asking about the importance of Jose Rizal, is our President cheating, and so on. I do not think people here realize that there are OTHER categories or forums in Yahoo Answers in which they can ask their questions appropriately. Also most people here have not read thoroughly the Community Guidelines set by Yahoo Answers. You are not supposed to use any language aside from English.

Filipinos are not fond of reading and ends up in trouble for not following instructions. Worst, they try to argue themselves out of the problem even though it is clear they are wrong. The truth hurts ain't it? No wonder there are a lot of good lawyers in the country.

You see, Filipinos love to be heard. This is so far the only forum available to us who wanted to speak our mind. I prersonally do like to take the streets just to be heard. I am professional why downgrade my being?
All about the Philippines and Filipinos can be asked here. But it really is better if there is a subsection where we can discuss bullshits. This is democracy.

I enjoyed reading the answers. LOL. Actually, I just answered one of the question asking about Benguest, which is supposed to be Benguet, Philippines.

Will posting of different questions in supposed to be travel makes one appear moronic? Maybe they just love hudge pudge stuff.
