It's close enough. Full term is considered to be 37 weeks. I suppose the baby would be considerd a week early but I doubt would have any issues. I'm sure he would be able to go home the same amount of time as any other "full term" baby. When your baby is ready to come...he'll come. Hang in there any day now!! :) And an early congratultions to you!!

And to Colleen...since when is 32 weeks full term. I had my son at 32 weeks and he weighed 2 pounds 13 ounces...and spent 6 weeks in the NICU...How could that be considerd full term in anyone's mind??

Alison,

Any OB will tell you the closer to full term the better. But I can say that by having my eldest son at 37 weeks, he is just fine. A big ole 17 yr old now.. did not suffer any ill effect's of being born a tad before "full term" at all...

Thing's I would suggest watching for, jaundice ... also Reflux.. a child born a little early sometimes has this.. actually all 3 of my son's did.. one born early, one born 2 weeks late and the 3rd right on his due date..

Congratulations on the baby.. and good luck

It's close enough to full term. I delivered my baby at 36 weeks and he was fine. He might go to incu if he weighs less than 5 pounds but don't worry too much if your doctor says the baby is ok you shouldn't be scared. Of course if your baby can spend a little more time inside your belly better for him/her.

I went into labor at 34 weeks with my oldest son & they stopped it. They said had I been 35 weeks that they would have let it continue. They said he would have still been considered premature but not by that much. I was told that anything from 36-42 weeks is considered full term.

Full term is considered between 38 and 42 weeks. 36 weeks is therefore, considered premature.

I gave birth at 36 weeks and my son was perfectly healthy. No complications at all. No developmental delays or anything.
