The eclipse happened, and the viewer made what he/she wanted to make of it. This month there will be an eclipse of the moon. I think it means I should get a job, George Bush will think we should invade Iran.

If we're talking ancient people, the Mayans & Aztecs would do blood sacrifices to try to please the sun god.
Of course, by the time the sacrifice was over, the sun would have re-appeard, thus leading them to think that blood sacrifices worked.

ancient peoples did see this as a distater! they didn't know what was happening and they bacame feared (or Holy in some cases)
kahos and disorder followed in some cultures. others saw it as a sign from ________???? whoever they worship
