There are palm trees in San Diego...which doesn't mean that you will see them everywhere. One of the best places to see palm trees in San Diego is at Balboa Park, a huge park with lots of gardens, museums, restaurants, and the world famous San Diego Zoo. The garden with the palm trees is:
Palm Canyon
Enjoy a romantic stroll down the winding paths into a shady, lush canyon. Palm Canyon is a tropical oasis with more 450 palms covering its two acres. Cross the picturesque wooden footbridge leading from the Alcazar Gardens parking lot to cross the street from the Spreckels Organ Pavilion. Admission to these Balboa Park gardens is free 365 days a year.
Other things to do in San Diego include water sports, hiking, biking, beach volleyball, watching a gorgeous sunset, kayaking through the La Jolla Caves, wine tasting, theater, and more.

Tons of palm trees, I'm in the process of pulling some out from my yard. Tons of beaches and lots of surfing if you're into it. Pretty good night life too. Check out the smaller towns in San Diego North county along the coast. Carlsbad is a fun town too. But definitely take a lesson in surfing.

There are palm trees all over CA..
SD zoo, Wild Animal Park, NAS,
(go south you're in Mexico...go north and you're in LA...go east and you'll hit Vegas..)
