Tornados in East Texas?

Has anyone out there experience a Tornado in East Texas? Violent severe Thunderstorms?

I used to visit my husband in Waco back in the day when we were sparking. The thunderstorms sounded like gunshots; they were so close it was like a warzone. Tornadoes were regular and usually always hit Mobile homes. I always wondered why.

A little over a week ago a tornado touched down just up the hill from me by about 500-750 yards. I live in Flint (Just south of Tyler Texas).

Two trees, the largest some 70 feet tall, 50 feet behind my house were literally torn up by the roots.
