Because if you don't then depression isn't temporary... and it's the worst thing you can ever feel - real depression.

Not just emotions are temporary. Your life is also temporary. Why would you live if then you would die? Why should you seek happiness if is not going to last? Because things that we cannot possess forever are the most valuables.

Because happiness is a better state to be in than any other emotion don't you think?
I have been happy for a long time. Sure unhappiness, sadness, and other emotions occur, maybe on a daily basis even, but happiness is the goal of life perhaps. It may be what sustains us. Your thoughts?

Because happiness is a precious gift no matter how long it lasts. A minute of true joy is worth days of sorrow...Happiness is also a choice. You can choose to be happy & do everything in your power to be so. You can choose to be more positive. You can choose to appreciate the little things.

Yes we can't control many things in life. Tragedies happen & obviously there are times we need to grieve. But overall, we are in control of our own lives. We may not be able to control events but we can choose our reaction to them.

Happiness doesn't have to be temporary. You can choose to be happy & keep smiling no matter what...sometimes it can be very very difficult though! For a negative gal like me (giving good advice is easier than taking it!) it's sometimes hard to be happy. I can be very cynical & things can drag me down. But I cherish moments of happiness & even at the worst of times I know that I will survive & things will get better...

How about that emotions "seem" to be temporary. And as far as "seeking" happiness, where are you at now where happiness would need to be sought. Instead of using your consciousness to employ patterns of fear (for example) explore patterns relative to where you find yourself and work towards a shift to experience happiness that is no longer sought after-- it's where you find yourself. Honesty in where you find yourself and effort to shift the patterns. Cool?

everything has its level of understanding- if you love, it can have limitations(you put there) or it can be unconditional- happiness is only sustained when you love and recieve love on a continual basis- yeah it is an emotion, but if you are pure in awareness, and you have a clear understanding that this world is relative to everything else, then you know that inside, your REAL self is the one that lets you accept your wholeness, your happiness. If you know that what happens outside of you and what you choose to let effect the inside of you as two VERY different things, seeking happiness is natural- you naturally want to be full- we seek nourishment, growth, love, success, and happiness- because it is the nature of the mind, our consciousness, our evolution to want More and more and more- getting caught up in money or sex or things that you do to prevent you from feeling (worry, guilt, fear) is a defense mechanism that stops you from living fully., You have to know everything in the relative world evolves, changes, etc., But, in truth, you can't go backwards, even sitting still is movement, your heart still beats doesn't it? so maybe you got off track not wanting to move forward due to fear, or feelings of lack, but never let yourself you don't deserve to be happy, worthy, loved successful- it is all a matter of perception AND it has to be the correct perceptions NOT based on fear or guilt or worry or lack or money---- Come from a place of pure LOVE- you will have happiness- learn to love first!

Where did you get the idea that emotions are temporary? Sadness is covered with Happiness, Happiness is covered with sadness...Hate with fear..Fear with hate...I could go on. Emotions are carried with us from day to day...to say that they are temporary..is just a delusion...or dare I say.. just another emotion!

If I answer this copy of your question shall Yahoo judge it to be deleted. It happened.

All emotions are, in their least, as enduring as the conditions that spur them. The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative. I do not believe I have ever heard of a person becoming traumatized from positive emotions.

With that way of thinking what stops you from asking why live since we are temporary?

The short term feelings that we experience all have long term effects on who you are and your Physical well being. My advice is look for happiness in the right places because that state of mind itself will prolong your life. Strive after its opposites and probably you will die prematurely.
