I slept with pillows supporting my back and my belly. It really helped a lot. (My husband hated it , cause he couldn't sleep hugging me lol) A nice massage and soothing music also can help. Hope you sleep better soon! Cause soon you won't be sleeping much hehe.

It's ok to sleep on your back for a few minutes at a time, but not all night at this point in your pregnancy. I have some back pain too (29 weeks) and it's' better for me to sleep on my side- but it has to be very well supported....a pillow between the knees and one supporting the belly in front. Sleeping on the side of the pain is usually better because it helps to stabilize that side- but I need to flip back and forth a few times at night. It's horrible, i know, good luck!

Trust me you are sleeping just fine at 17 weeks - wait til you are 37 weeks then you will know what trouble sleeping is.

Its good preparation for the birth of your baby though.......i have a 6 day old new born and its tiring

When I was pregnant I started using a body pillow which you can get at Walmart or some place like that... it worked for me to ease the pain from sore back(and joints) and help keep you off your back which becomes important later in pregnancy! Some Chamomile tea might help you to relax and is totally safe during pregnancy !!

I don't know if your problem is a comfort thing or an insomnia thing, but if it's comfort... try using lots of extra pillows. I sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees, one behind my back, and a small one in front of me to support my growing belly. My husband laughs at me every time he sees me building this little "fortress of pillows" around me, but hey you do what you gotta do!

Unfortunately, insomnia is normal in pregnancy, and it sucks. My doctor told me to take one gravol tab before bed to help me sleep. It sys on the box not too, but my dic said that as long as I didn't overdo it, and useit everyday, I would (and baby would) be perfectly fine. Good Luck and Congrats

I slept with a pillow between my legs. I don't know why this helps but it did. I hope this helps and congratulations on the baby.
