Oh Yeah! Topo Gigio IS a very famous puppet known throughout the world he was actually born (created) in Italy on the 60's and was part of a puppet show, he became popular and the creator (Maria Perego) started franchising the little puppet, I grew up in Mexico where he was a big star and at one point he had his own show (El Show de Topo Gigio) and hence I don't remember him from the Ed Sullivan Show. He is moved with sticks (as opposed to strings like most puppets) by 3 people dressed in black and against a black background in a little stage. He is still featured in many countries around the world (mostly Hispanic) and made an appeareance back in December in the Univision Spanish network in the US. His punch line (in Spanish at least) is: "A la camita, A la camita" which translates roughly "Let's go to bed" He had albums and his bedsongs were really popular as well, I remember he had a segment at 9 pm every week day to remind the kids to go to bed or "A la camita, A la camita". (((SIGH)))) OH the memories!
