at school, work, at a party or whatever. What was it like?

When I lived in California I went to this school for gifted kids and I was the only black kid (though there were several asians but oddly no hispanics). I wasn't the smartest kid, but i was the smartest boy, and at recess I was like superman ...lol. I still remember at recess the teacher told me I had to hit left handed, but the dumb ho didn't know I was ambidextrous and I hit a line drive that busted this white boy in the face. she accused me of doing it on purpose and made me sit out the rest of the week.

I grew up with a very low opinion of white people.

geez, I was just sharing the story. that experience (the whole school year) made me not like white people so much growing up. But I didn't say I still felt that way.

I'm 1/2 and 1/2 so I have found it both interesting and upsetting growing up not being treated like a part of either group, but I actually am a part of both.

My story:
In college there was a Black Student Union. I did not attend as a member, but several of my black friends did. One night the women on the BSU had a movie night (I believe it was School Daze)...anyway, I went with my best friend (who happens to be black). We got there late and they were already watching the movie so we sat at the back. When the movie was over, someone turned the lights on, and (I kid you not) there was at least a full minute of silence and people outright stared at me. Most of them were girls I did not know, and of course I "look white", so I got stared at. That could be one of the most uncomfortable moments of my life. So I guess that particular story is a little reversed from your story. I have more about how white people have judged as well, but this was the most striking example I can think of.

But my point is, judgment sucks huh?

Well Well'''look what I have here, and all this time I though I was in America I can't believe I see this question on this website whoever ask it. And by the way yes I would date a black person so if you have a problem with black people why not just date your own race and forget about any other people in the world by the way I am dateing a black guy if this is what you are asking why would it be so bad to date a black guy anyway? he is human just like you and you know just what I am saying.

Very much the same concept of white people having low opinions of black people because of one incident. As with any race, there are good and bad people. To judge and group all because of a few is just plain wrong. I know good and bad people of several races, but I do not condemn the entire race by the actions of a few people within that race.

I own a trucking company in Houston that will reach the million dollar profit mark this year. In most contract meetings I am either the only black or 1 out of 2. But it doesn't bother me at all, I guess it depends on which chair you're sitting in.

In the 1950's I was a little girl in Kenya, Africa. When I went to England at age 6yrs I was friends with darker skinned colour chidren ( Only Ethiopeans and Nigerians have truly black skin and the Ethiopean colour is beautiful) Dad had to point out I was white ( well not white but pinky, creamy, greeny , blotched brown colour = pale skin) but I felt bad when other kids called my group names.
I was Welsh, my Irish teacher hated the Welsh. Therefore she failed all my work ( even when Dad did it). She put me in detention and generally made my life miserable. So I began campaigning to remove Apartheid from South Africa. Enough of us did this to make governments change
Moral of this tale - discrimination is every-where. Get up not down and campaign to stop ALL discrimination. Go ahead show those teachers you are better than them [ long live the Welsh]

How is that possible, when Black people are everywhere. Either brought there by slavery or by their willing. You will find Black people in all continents. Heck I met this Black-Vietnamese people in Saigon. Black soldiers were fighting in Vietnam @ the same time having a good time with Vietnamese women.

I was the only black person in my department, at work, for over three year. It really wasn't that bad. I have a "judge by the individual" opinion of white people. some were idiots, some were smarter than me. One ended up being a really good friend. I truly missed having black people around. I got promoted -- first thing I did was hire a black person, who I later ended up marrying. so I guess that's a happy ending

Oh please! My next door neighbor in Calif. was about the only black kid in our school and he played football in high school. He told me that he really was not good but the only reason they played him was because he was black. He was pretty cool but I think he was right. His theory was that he would be intimidating because he was black but he said he thought it was weird. I used to have a lot more respect for blacks before the OJ simpson case. It took me about ten years to get over the racist jury and the way the black community celebrated the obvious farce that freed the killer. Anyway, no hard feelings, I still look at people one on one and as individuals.
